Adelaide Crows v GWS Giants betting tips, prediction and odds update; AFL rd 16 preview

Welcome to our Adelaide v GWS betting tips, prediction and odds update ahead of their AFL round 16 clash at Adelaide Oval on Tuesday evening.

The match is crucial for eighth-placed GWS with the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne desperately trying to steal their position in the top eight.

Adelaide are flying high after their first win of the season came against Hawthorn on Tuesday, when they defeated the Hawks by 35 points.

The Giants last played on Thursday when they fought out a nine-point win over Carlton, after trailing for most of the night.

Adelaide won the last clash between the two clubs in round 12 last season but the Giants had won the previous two encounters.

GWS are priced at $1.31 in the betting to win this clash and the Crows are outsiders at $3.50. The $1.90 line has been set at 17.5.

The Giants have again rested first-choice ruckman Shane Mumford as has been their standard in this convoluted AFL season. They were also unable to consider running defender Zac Williams, and Brent Daniels and Zac Langdon have been omitted.

They have recalled Harry Perryman, Jye Caldwell, Sam J Reid and Sam Jacobs.

Adelaide have made just one change with Andrew McPherson recalled at the expense of Myles Poholke. They have several players such as Ben Davis, Tom Lynch and Wayne Milera who could return from injury before season’s end.

Adelaide v GWS tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value Crows v Giants tips for Tuesday’s game.

Rory Laird to get 25+ touches

Laird has been one of the few success stories for the Crows this year, after switching into the midfield. He was magnificent against the Magpies recently and was close to best on ground in their win over the Hawks. Laird gives the Crows midfield some class and competitiveness. We like him to get 25+ touches again here at $2.30 with opposition midfields liable to knock up huge possession counts against the Giants.

GWS by 1-39 points

The Giants simply must win this to continue to consolidate their spot in the top eight. They also need players like Jeremy Cameron to lift if they are going to threaten for the flag. Their opponent, Adelaide, will also want to continue the good vibes and put up a good showing after their first win under Matthew Nicks. In the end, the Giants will have too much class, but tough types like Rory Sloane and Ben Keays will ensure it is close. This is a conservative but smart leg for your multis and is paying $1.72.

Adelaide Crows v GWS Giants prediction 8/9/2020

GWS have become a horror punting team in 2020, with inconsistent performances marring the 2019 grand finalist. Usual cash cows like Jeremy Cameron and Toby Greene are performing below par, and unheralded types such as Jake Riccardi are shining. GWS will have too many tricks for the Crows in this one, but we don’t think it will be a blowout. They desperately need a strong performance here, with the finals just weeks away and we’ll back them to cover the line. Our final Adelaide v GWS prediction? Giants by 21 points.
