Dockers v Swans tips and betting prediction; May 22 2021 Preview

Welcome to our Fremantle v Sydney betting tips, prediction & odds update for their AFL round 13 clash being played at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

Any slim chance of Fremantle mounting a late charge for the finals is probably on the line in this clash and the Swans will want to keep their recent improvement going.

The Dockers won the last clash between the clubs by a solitary point in round 18 last season, but prior to that the Swans had won every game between the pair since 2015.

Of course, there is very little to be read into the history between the two clubs, given the Dockers replaced coach Ross Lyon with Justin Longmuir and both clubs have refreshed their teams with young talent in recent times.

Sydney are backing up after their surprise thrashing of GWS in Perth last Thursday, a match they were not expected to win, but produced their best display since embarking on a rebuild.

The Dockers are coming off a four-point loss to Carlton last Saturday, a match which was sealed by a remarkable set shot from the boundary after the final siren.

Fremantle have been installed a $1.60 favourite in the betting at Unibet and the Swans are at $2.35. The $1.90 line has been set at 8.5 and the over/under mark has been set at 103.5.

The Dockers got through the clash against Carlton relatively unscathed and are unlikely to make many changes for this contest. The club is eagerly watching youngster Stefan Giro after he returned in the reserves on the weekend following an ACL reconstruction.

Sydney have suffered a fresh blow on the injury front with gun defender Dane Rampe re-breaking his hand that he busted earlier in the season. The Swans have also put a line through George Hewett, Ben Ronke and Elijah Taylor for the rest of the year, the latter because of a COVID breach last week.

Fremantle v Sydney tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value Dockers v Swans tips for Saturday’s game.

Dockers to cover the -8.5 line

Fremantle look to be good value to cover the line here, with the Swans’ fresh injury concerns set to further decimate their back six. While this Freo v Swans tip is only paying $1.90 we think it is a strong leg for your multibets.

Michael Walters to kick 2+ goals

Walters returned last week and we backed him to kick goals, unfortunately it was pouring rain, and there was only 10 kicked for the entire game against the Blues. This week the weather is expected to be clear and he’s coming up against a team missing many of their best small defenders. Walters is paying $3.75 to kick 2+ goals with Unibet, or $7.50 to kick 3+.

Over/Under betting

We are choosing to overlook Fremantle’s dismal score of 36 last week and put it down to the conditions, while the Swans showed some attacking guile we haven’t seen from them in a long while. We’re confident if the weather holds up that these two will cover the 103.5 mark between them, which is paying $1.88.

Fremantle Dockers v Sydney Swans prediction 22/8/2020

Fremantle have two more games at Optus Stadium before finishing the season on the road and if they are any shot at making the finals, they must win these home games. They would be bitterly disappointed with the last-gasp loss to the Blues, which would have put them just one win outside the top eight. The Dockers’ big forwards will enjoy the dry weather and their midfield looks to have slightly more class this time, with Fyfe and Walters. The extra two days break just won’t make up for the Swans injury list. Our final Fremantle v Sydney prediction? Dockers by 19 points.
