Richmond v West Coast betting tips, prediction & odds; AFL Rd 14 preview

Welcome to our Richmond v West Coast betting tips, prediction and odds update for their AFL round 14 clash at Metricon Stadium on Thursday night.

The second match of an AFL double-header promises to be an absolute beauty with two of the premiership favorites doing battle on neutral ground in a match that has huge ramifications on the top four make-up.

The fifth-placed Tigers are two points behind West Coast and can leapfrog them into the top four. The fourth-placed Eagles can move into outright second with a win, or a percentage-booster could see them head the ladder.

Richmond are coming off a two-goal win over Essendon on Saturday night, while West Coast defeated GWS by 12 points on Sunday. We don’t anticipate the Tigers’ extra day rest being a factor in this game.

Recent history also doesn’t give much insight, the Tigers winning their last encounter against West Coast by a goal in round 22 last year and the Eagles won their round 9 clash by 47 points.

Richmond are the favourites in the betting, being installed as short as $1.80 with some bookmakers, with West Coast priced at $2. The line has been set at 3.5 with Unibet Australia.

Ruckman Toby Nankervis could headline the inclusions for the Tigers this week, but their midfield star Dion Prestia has suffered a setback with his knee injury and now may not return until finals. The Tigers are buzzing however with news star defender Alex Rance is eyeing a comeback after stepping away from the game prior to this season.

For West Coast, Oscar Allen is in doubt after suffering a corked leg against GWS and Jackson Nelson was clearly favouring a shoulder. With the four-day turnaround we have our doubts either will play against the Tigers.

The Eagles are likely to include Mark Hutchings after he was named an emergency last week, but star midfielder Elliot Yeo remains at least a few matches away with his groin injury.

Richmond v West Coast tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds for some value and found several Tigers v Eagles tips for Thursday’s game.

Over/Under 123.5  match total betting

Make no mistake, these are probably the two best AFL teams in 2020 and we can see both sides using it as a full dress rehearsal, with the neutral venue making it even more important. The Tigers with their manic pressure and will to defend and attack in equal measure. West Coast with their structured defence and controlled build-ups. The Richmond v WC game styles make an interesting case study and it’s one that we think will end in a low-scoring contest. We hope we’re wrong, but good teams bring pressure, and pressure games have been low scoring this season. Take the $1.88 on offer for the total match points to be under 123.5 with Unibet.

Either team to win by under 15.5 (Tribet)

This tribet market is available at most online betting sites in Australia. It simply means you can bet on either team to win by under 15.5, or just one of the teams to win by under 15.5. The under 15.5 on a West Coast victory, which is paying $3.40 is great value here. But If you’re like us and can’t quite make up your mind on who will win, the either team by 15.5 or less option is paying $2.20 and could be a good leg for your multibets.

Richmond v West Coast prediction 27/8/2020

The Richmond v West Coast betting says it all: this is going to be a close contest and it could realistically go either way. Both of these teams are finals bound in 2020, but top four is no certainty for either. The winner here will become our outright flag favourite. Looking at the two teams, West Coast look to have more depth through the midfield and the edge in defence which is why we are tipping them in a narrow victory. Our final Richmond v West Coast prediction? Eagles by 9 points.
