The Giants are within striking distance to mount a late season charge, but so far in 2020 their form has not warranted a top four position. Their Sydney compatriot, the Swans are injury-hit and clearly rebuilding, but in true bloods style they continue to put up strong efforts each week.
The Giants and Swans are both coming off a bye after joining the Perth hub, with recent results at Optus Stadium sparking fear of a new Perth “House of Pain” for traveling teams. For the Giants a loss would prove almost fatal, with games against flag fancy West Coast and a tricky fixture against Fremantle, before they leave Perth.
AFL betting sites have priced the Giants at $1.28 to win this clash, while the swans are rank outsiders at $3.60. The $1.90 line is a more tempting proposition for fans with it set at 19.5.

The Giants have lost defender Phil Davis and Shane Mumford, who has been managed. They will again be without matchwinner Toby Greene who is some chance of returning for the round 13 clash against West Coast. The Giants will blood mature age recruit Tom Hutchesson, who is a versatile player that cut his teeth in the SANFL.
For the Swans it is really just moving the deck chairs with no name players to return from injury. Star forward Lance Franklin has declared that he is aiming to play again in 2020, but looks to be at least a month away, while Isaac Heeney (season), George Hewett (5-7 weeks), Sam Naismith (season) and Ben Ronke (3-4 weeks) are other first-choice players absent. Allir Allir is a confirmed out.

Sam Reid has again endured a tough injury run in 2020 but in positive signs for the Swans forward, he has strung several games together and began to look better last week against the Magpies. He is paying a juicy $3.30 at Unibet to kick 2+ goals which looks to be good value in Perth, where it is expected to be dry and ideal conditions for forwards.
Jeremey Cameron to kick 3+ goals
Like Reid, Cameron will excel in the dry conditions in Perth and we think it’s finally time for the star Giant to break the shackles after a slow start to the year. In recent weeks we’ve seen Eagles Josh Kennedy and Docker Matt Taberner excel at Optus Stadium and we think Cameron is the one most likely to kick a bag in this game, largely because of two factors: The Swans undersized defence and his team is expected to win easily. Cameron is paying $2.88 to kick 3+ majors.
Josh Kelly to gather over 25 touches
Kelly is averaging 22.1 touches in 2020 and has been building over the last month, gathering over 25 touches in two of the games. He is the type of player the Giants look for at every opportunity and against a seriously weakened Swans midfield we think he could have a day out. Kelly’s odds of $2 offers some nice value for your same game multis.
Sydney Swans v GWS Giants prediction 13/8/2020
GWS has too much to play for and we are predicting them to win this one easily. For Swans supporters they will want to see continued improvement from their young brigade, with the likes of Ollie Florent and Will Hayward needing to lift massively if they are to get near the Giants. In the end, the continued absence of the likes of Josh Kennedy and Lance Franklin from the Swans line-up leaves them with too few match winners. Our final Sydney v GWS prediction? Giants by 32.
