Brisbane Lions v Western Bulldogs betting tips and prediction; AFL rd 11 preview

Welcome to our Western Bulldogs v Brisbane Lions betting tips, prediction and odds update ahead of their AFL round 4 clash in Ballarat on Saturday afternoon.

The unbeaten Bulldogs ($1.49) are heavy favourites to defeat the Lions ($2.63), who were exceptionally lucky to win after being outpointed by Collingwood for most of the evening last Thursday.

The Bulldogs are undefeated after three games and are firming in AFL Premiership betting calculations, having been trimmed from around the $20 quote into $9 prior to round four.

Friday AFL: Port Adelaide v Richmond tips

The Lions have gone the other way, beginning the season at single-figure flag odds, before their disappointing form and one win from three matches, has seen them blow out to $10.

The Bulldogs have a healthy list, with the only first-choice players on the sidelines being Hayden Crozier, Toby McClean and Ed Richards. Crozier is the only one expected to play any football in the next month.

Brisbane has several players battling fitness issues, including Brownlow Medal winner Lachie Neale, who has a back complaint but will play, Jarrod Berry (hamstring), Nakia Cockatoo (hamstring), Oscar McInerney (ankle) and Dan McStay (knee). McStay is the only player ruled out of the Bulldogs clash.

Western Bulldogs v Brisbane Lions betting tips

Our AFL betting guru has cast their eye over the odds and found some free Bulldogs v Lions tips:

Watch: Take unders in over/under betting

We expect the over/under betting lines to change dramatically before the bounce of the Bulldogs v Lions clash, with wet weather predicted. We expect this will turn the clash into a bit of a slog, with the Lions desperate to not slump to 1-3 after four rounds. If the Dogs v Lions over/under mark is anything above 172.5, latch on to the unders with confidence.

Mitch Wallis to kick 2+ goals

If there is one Bulldogs forward that thrives in the wet it’s Mitch Wallis. We expect Wallis to be picked for this clash after he was dropped last week and a player with as much pride as him will respond quickly. Wallis is paying $1.95 to kick 2+ goals.

Adam Treloar to get over 30 touches

Former Collingwood midfielder Adam Treloar is made for wet weather football. A little like Chris Judd later in his career, the former Giant has lost a bit of his pace, but still thrives on the contested ball. Expect him to be at the coalface for most of the day against the Lions and we are confident he will lead all-comers when it comes to possessions. He is paying $2.40 to get 30+ touches.

Bulldogs v Lions prediction 10/4

We are supremely confident that the Western Bulldogs will defeat the Lions in Ballarat. The Lions were lucky to get over the Magpies and appear thin through the midfield without Neale firing and young gun Cam Rayner out for the season with a knee injury. We just can’t see them having enough tricks to trouble the Bulldogs, who look even more dangerous with Adam Treloar prowling the centre square. Our final Bulldogs v Lions prediction? Western Bulldogs by 29 points.
