Geelong v Port Adelaide betting tips, prediction & Odds; AFL Rd 12 Preview

Welcome to our Geelong v Port Adelaide betting tips, predictions and odds update for their AFL Round 12 clash at Metricon Stadium on Friday night.

This is the clear match of the round, with the Power sitting atop the ladder with nine wins from 11 matches and the Cats sitting in third place at 7-4.

The Cats are backing up after their Monday night romp against St Kilda at the Gabba, while Port defeated defending premiers Richmond by 21 points in Adelaide last Saturday. That two days of extra rest is tempered somewhat by Port being forced to travel back to the south-east Queensland hub.

Geelong have one of the healthier lists in the AFL almost two-thirds of the way through the regular season. Superstar Gary Ablett is unavailable for personal reasons, but they regained captain Joel Selwood for the clash against the Saints and have several other stars pushing for a return this round.

Speedy midfielder Quinton Narkle (hamstring) and youngsters Jordan Clark (shoulder) and Charlie Constable (concussion) are all on the cusp of returning.

Outstanding Power youngster Connor Rozee  (heel) is at least another week away from resuming but veteran Brad Ebert (concussion) and Steven Motlop (ankle) are back in the mix for selection against the Cats.

Geelong v Port Adelaide tips

Our AFL betting guru has scoured the odds and found several value Cats v Power tips for Friday’s derby.

Cats +4.5 points/match total under 126.5 points

Two quality teams will leave nothing in the tank in a clash between two genuine contenders. We think this match is pretty much a 50-50 bet so we have to lean towards the outsiders in betting and that’s the Cats. They really looked lively up forward on Monday and it will be interesting to see how they cope with the running power of Port.

Patrick Dangerfield to get 25+ disposals

The Cats superstar has been earmarked to spend even more time in the middle for this match and he thrives on big games. Expect the powerful Dangerfield to be heavily involved. He has worked his way into peak form and will be crucial for the Cats in the run to the finals as they seek to secure a top-four position.

Geelong Cats v Port Adelaide Power prediction 14/8/2020

Geelong have had Port’s measure for the past decade, winning 14 of the past 16 matches between the two clubs. The Power are travelling superbly this season but Geelong keep on stepping up and a win here would really thrust the Cats towards the top of premiership betting. If they have pulled up OK after their win over the Saints, we think the Cats can get the job done in a classic. Our final Geelong v Port Adelaide prediction? The Cats by 12 points.
