Port Adelaide v Hawthorn betting tips & winner prediction; AFL rd 13 preview

Welcome to our Port Adelaide v Hawthorn betting tips, prediction and odds update ahead of their AFL round 13 clash at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday.

The dividing lines have been drawn between the contenders and the pretenders in the AFL, and the Power v Hawks clash pits the top-of-the-table Adelaide club against a struggling Melbourne-based club.

For the Power, a win is crucial after they were hammered by 60 points against fellow flag contenders Geelong. They meekly surrendered to a better-drilled outfit as Tom Hawkins put them to the sword. The Cats slammed on seven goals to one in the final term to send Ken Hinkley’s team back to the drawing board.

The Hawks were spirited in their clash against West Coast on Sunday. But in the end further injuries and a gulf in talent saw the Eagles dismiss them without much trouble.

Hawthorn’s James Sicily suffered a serious right knee injury late against the Eagles. He is set to miss the bulk of the 2021 season as he undergoes a reconstruction. Sicily will be joined on the sidelines by midfielder Jaegar O’Meara who is likely to miss a fortnight with a hand injury. Ricky Henderson and Isaac Smith are also unlikely to be fit to play against the Power.

The Power are some chance of regaining Brad Ebert from concussion, but they are taking the conservative route with the tough utility. Boom youngster Connor Rozee is scheduled to return from a heel injury this week, but Todd Marshall and Ryan Burton are still several games away.

Port Adelaide v Hawthorn tips

Our AFL betting expert has scoured the odds and found several value Power v Hawks tips for Saturday’s game.

Charlie Dixon to kick 3+ goals

Power forward Charlie Dixon struggled to have any impact as his team got thrashed last round and the big forward will have a point to prove here. Also, Dixon has a habit of beating up on weak teams and going missing against the good teams as shown by his five touches against the Cats. Dixon is paying $3.20 to kick 3+ goals which we think is great value, given he is likely to receive plenty of opportunity.

Tom Mitchell to get 30+ touches

They say nothing can be certain in this life, except death and taxes. But when Hawks Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell is at full fitness you can almost bank on him getting plenty of possessions. Mitchell’s form in the past fortnight is one of the only pleasing things for Hawks supporters, as his injury problems look to be behind him. He has gathered over 30 possessions in his last two games and we are happy to take the $2 for him to do again against the Power.

Port Power v Hawthorn prediction 22/8/2020

Port Adelaide need a win here if they are to stitch up top spot and we just can’t see Hawthorn causing an upset. The Power v Hawks betting is all one-way traffic and expects the home team to record a big win. The $1.18 odds on the Power is just too narrow for us and we have no faith that they will cover the 26.5-point line. While we will steer of Port Adelaide v Hawthorn head to head betting we do think there is some good opportunities for punters who look to the players markets. Our final Port Adelaide v Hawthorn prediction? Power by 13 points.
